[ucbnet] Fw: eBird Report - Chimney Rock Pass , 6/13/09

Hi All,
 Here's the list of birds seen on this mornings Utah County Birders field trip to the southwest corner of Utah County by the 19 participants. Areas covered included, Chimney Rock Pass and the East Tintic Mountains near Dividend.
 By far the best find of the day was a LONG-EARED OWL nest with an adult and at least three half grown young in it. They were in an old Cooper's 
Hawk nest on the Tintics. If interested, let me know and I can give you directions to the site. Of course care needs to be taken not to get too close and disturb the adults and nestlings. 
 Other target birds seen were Pinyon Jay, Juniper Titmouse, Black-throated Sparrow, and Virginia's and Black-throated Gray Warblers. We knew we were in for a good day when a Blue Grosbeak was heard and seen at the commuter parking lot meeting place in Payson. We ended with 51 species for the day.
