[ucbnet] Salem Pond area

Bonnie, LeIla, and Alona went to Salem Pond on Friday afternoon. On the way there we saw a Lewis Woodpecker east of Salem (for address, see Web page for usual places to bird for specific species). We also saw Spotted Towhees and a Black-billed Magpie.
At the pond we saw:
Canada Goose
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
Green-winged Teal
Canvasback
Common Goldeneye
Red-breasted Merganaer
Pied-billed Grebe
Northern Harrier
American Coot
Wilson's Snipe
Eurasian Collard Dove (heard)
Northern Flicker (heard)
White-crowned Sparrows
House finch
House Sparrow
Around Salem we also saw:
Bufflehead
American Kestrel
Killdeer
Mouurning Doves
European Starling
Song Sparrow
Western Meadowlarks
Red-winged Blackbirds
We drove out to Lake Shore area and added to our list
Bald Eagle
Red-tailed Hawk
2 Rough-legged Hawks (1-3 miles west of the south Springville Exit)
It was a pleasant afternoon!
