Sirpa and Leena:
Thought about you two today as I had this wonderful experience:
As I drove home around 6 pm I noticed a bunch of huge birds, soaring very low close to me. First I thought they were eagles. A few minutes later as I arrived home I noticed that 4 of them had landed in my tallest tree, while approx. 50 others had taken off and were vaguely visible in the high skies. Lee immediately recognized them as California Condors. They have a wing spread of up to 10 feet. I got on line right away, and sure enough he was right, they were indeed condors. It's dark now, but 2 of them are overnighting. Later the local news station showed pictures of a large group of condors flying in the sky. The reporter said they were spotted today flying around in our area and that they had come from Grand Canyon.
It was exhilarating.
Pia
