[ucbnet] White-throated Sparrow?

The attached photo was taken on the south airport dike, just after turning west, Saturday, October 6, about 9:30 am.  At first I thought it a chipping sparrow, but the bill is unlike the other chipping sparrows I have seen.  It seems to have a rounder head than shown in the photo of the white-throated sparrow appearing in the Encyclopedia of North American Birds, but otherwise very similar.

Any identification guidance is appreciated.
