Subject: Saturday Morning Was For the Birds!

What a pleasure it was to spend a gorgeous fall Saturday morning (11/3) with your two best birding buddies! Milt Moody, Tuula Rose and I set off on a VERY chilly morning for a couple of hours to see what birds might be lurking in the area. Heavy coats and gloves sure came in handy on Saturday morning. It was nippy! The places covered were Provo City Cemetery (very quiet early still at 8:45 am), Evergreen Cemetery, Springville (also rather quiet), the Lewis's Woodpecker hill near Elk Ridge (beautiful and quiet), and then Salem to the pond by the housing are on the west of town and then Salem Pond itself (very productive around 10 a.m. even though not a lot of water fowl could be seen). On the way home we meandered through the fields and meadows and soaked in that perfect Fall morning. Quick stop at East Bay ponds. Lovely and quiet. No Herons! Ended our birding at Tuula's house to see the bird activity in her yard and on her feeders. 33 species seen. Best
bird of the day: RED CROSSBILL (males and females) at Salem Pond. ~~ Happy Fall Birding everyone!!!!
