[ucbnet] Chipping sparrows

I've had a major surge of Chipping Sparrows for about a week now.  They come to the water pan in my back yard in Santaquin Canyon.  One evening, there were 10 or so of the birds just hanging around.  I walked out to the water pan and discovered it nearly dry.  After a refilling and my return to the house, the birds were soon down drinking and bathing.  What a sight.
   
  Robins which showed up every time I turned on the sprinklers have disappeared for the season.  I haven't seen any for nearly two weeks now.  I trust these observations concur with others in our region.
