Everyone,
There seem to be lots of migrant mortality this season as I have had
more than the usual dead warblers brought to me here at Utah Valley
State College in recent days. Most are from flying into windows. I
have a salvage permit so I am building (slowly) a teaching collection
from birds brought in. The latest just yesterday was an Orange-crowned
Warbler. If you find dead birds which are in good shape please call me
at (801) 863-8607 or come in to the Dept. of Biology and give to a Biol.
Dept. secretary who will make sure it is take care of. Thank you for
your assistance.

I went around the Provo Airport Dike this afternoon. Much to my
surprise there were two Sage Sparrows. They were north of the southwest
corner of the dike. They were running along between the large rabbit
brush on both sides of the dirt road. Lots of sparrows in this area.
Also quite a large number of Orange-crowned Warblers. Never seen the
Sage Sparrows in the fall on the dike, not that I can remember, it was a
wonderful surprise. Also there was a beautiful Sage Thrasher on the
dike.
