For those of us who have tried to find  the Burrowing Owls on the road north of Elberta, there is still hope.

Merrill Webb just phoned in a report of Burrowing Owl near the turnoff to Manning Canyon (a couple of miles SW of Fairfield).  There is a mound about 20 feet past the turnoff with some "white wash" on it -- that's the sign.  It's right by the main road.  Merrill said he saw an owl on the telephone wires along the road (now that's a surprise!) and immediately turned around and found the mound and the owl.
