This morning I birded Logan Canyon and found a first of year Mountain Bluebird at Tony Grove. The birds were in the vicinity of the parking lot. The Tony Grove road is open and in great shape until you get within 100 feet of the parking lot. If you have a high clearance vehicle, then you won't have any problems getting into the parking lot. Other birds in the area included lots of American Tree Swallows, Western Tanagers, Dark-eyed Junco, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Raven and House Wren. The lake is mostly frozen and the trails still have a lot of snow on them. At Lodge Camping Area, which is across the road from LOMIA girls camp in Logan Canyon, I saw both Hermit Thrushes and Swainson's Thrushes. I normally only see Swainson's Thrush in the campground (they were near the entrance sign). I saw and heard a Willow's Flycatcher and a Gray Catbird at the bridge over the Little Bear River on the Mendon Road (same area where the Bobolinks have been seen).
