[TopOfUtah] Logan: Denzil Stewart Park & Green Canyon, 5/10/09

Birded Denzil Stewart Nature Park and Green Canyon, both in Logan.  I could
not relocate Buck Russell's American Redstart.  My guess is that the bird is
in Idaho by now.  Maybe next time.

Next stop, Green Canyon, which rewarded me with first-of-year HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHER, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, VIRGINIA'S WARBLER, WESTERN
TANAGER, WARBLING VIREO, and my first Cache Co. PLUMBEOUS VIREO (don't ask
me how I missed PLUMBEOUS VIREO last year during my Cache Co. Big Year).
Plus lots and lots of LAZULI BUNTINGS, CHIPPING SPARROWS and ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS. Surprising was the lack of Hermit Thrushes (figured I would've
heard one somewhere, they're the first of the thrushes to return) and no
Yellow-rumped Warbler. Anyhoo, got some fantastic looks at BLACK-THROATED
GRAY WARBLER, and I even got a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER, normally a super-shy
bird, to allow some relatively close looks.

Butterflies, in case anyone is interested: MOURNING CLOAKS and a
TORTOISESHELL spp. were everywhere, plus my first SWALLOWTAIL of the year,
being chased by a MOURNING CLOAK.  Also, a single BLUE spp.; tiny, the size
of my thumbnail.
