birders,

The Audubon bird trip Saturday was successful with warming temperatures
and bright sunshine. Reinhard Jockel, Jim Kingsland, Kit Flannery, Lyle
Bingham, Eric Bingham, and myself participating.

We started at Green Canyon (a bit cool) and saw Townsends Solitaire,
Magpie, European Starling and (heard) Chuckar. . .drove through North
Logan - Robins. In Hyde Park (Kit's house) we saw Pine Siskin, American
Gold Finch, Cassin's Finch, Red-Winged Blackbird. On the way out of town
we ran into Terry Barnes and some Eurasian Collared Doves. Also Kestrel,
Northern Flicker and Krider's Red-Tailed Hawk in that vicinity.

From there we drove west to the pig farm in Amalga. . .with Raven,
Canada Goose, Bald Eagle, Ring-Billed Gull, and Horned Lark. Pigeon
(Rock Dove) also seen along the way. The Oxbow yielded Common Merganser,
Common Goldeneye, (more Canada Goose). Driving to Benson Marina (for
lunch) we found Song sparrow, House Sparrow, and House Finch.

Valley View Hwy: Coot, Scaup sp., Mallard Duck, Gadwall, Marsh Hawk,
Northern Shrike, and Gull sp. Fish Hatchery on Valley View: Great Blue
Heron, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Killdeer, Belted Kingfisher, possible
Dowitcher sp., Ring-Billed Gull, (American?)Pipit.

Logan River Golf Course: Bufflehead, more Common Goldeneye,
(one)Canvasback, and one (female?) Ruddy Duck. Also some Dark Eyed Junco
and Black-capped Chickadee at Jim's house.

. . .somewhere along the way there was mention of a Northern Shoveler
and we saw Crows at several points.

happy birding!
