I was down at the Logan River bridge on Mendon Road and Sue's Ponds this
afternoon. . .not much activity near the bridge. . . A few red-wing
blackbirds, heard chickadee and pheasant and two swallows (un-id) flew
over. Also magpie and robin. . .
Then at Sue's Ponds: coots, black-necked stilt, american avocet,
pied-billed grebe, un-id ducks (scaup?), yellow-headed blackbird,
killdeer, hundreds of noisy gulls (un-id) from the landfill and sitting
around, canada geese, northern shoveler, ruddy duck, bufflehead,
mallards, probable kestrel and house sparrows.
. . .in the past few days I have seen northern flicker at my house on
Mendon road and heard sandhill cranes (today). Also eurasian collared
doves around near Woodruff school. There have been a lot of gulls in the
fields east and west of the house. . .in case anyone wants to indulge.
The other day (you might think I'm crazy) I spotted at a distance what
looked like a crow with a white patch on the side (primaries?)!!!
