Connie,
Robins are funny - they are quite common but they might visit one yard
for a solid month and not show up again for a year. We tilled our yard
one year and we had 50+ Robins a day for the next several weeks
(eating our worms, of course).
Cassin's Finches should not be considered common. Looking at my 2008
Cache County checklist, I see that Cassin's are marked uncommon year
round in mountains in valleys. We'll be seeing them in greater numbers
down in town soon, but most of the year they are up higher in the
woods and traveling in small groups.
I'd suggest picking up one of the new 2008 checklists either in town
or at the next BAS meeting on November 13th.
