I think John has a great point, and I am certainly guilty of not being
careful of the names I use, at least for one of the places he is referring
to. What I refer to as the "Logan Mitigation Ponds" are referred to by
long-time local birders as "Sue's ponds", and I am happy to follow suit if
that means there is less confusion. But, I should point out that non-local
birders may have no idea who Sue Drown is or why the ponds are named "Sue's
Ponds". But that's easily clarified by including directions when posting
about sightings at Sue's Ponds.

There may also be some confusion about the names for the various water
bodies (polishing ponds, finishing ponds, sewage ponds, sewage lagoons) that
make up the Logan Sewage Treatment plant (or whatever the official name is.
I have always been under the impression that the "polishing ponds" or
"finishing ponds" referred to the northernmost water bodies within the
complex, most of which seem to be emergent marsh, while the terms "sewage
ponds" and "sewage lagoons referred to the open ponds on the south end of
the complex, where raw sewage is treated. Does that sound about right?

I don't know of any alternative names for the 20-20 Ponds.

Good birding, Craig.
