Today I birded Tony Grove and the trail from Tony Grove to White Pine Lake
looking for RED CROSSBILLS and other mountain birds. I finally found my Red
Crossbills; they were conspicuously absent on two previous visits to Tony
Grove this summer. Other birds at Tony Grove included an EVENING GROSBEAK
and at least two PURPLE MARTINS. Also notable was the complete absence of
Olive-sided Flycatcher; this was my third visit this year to Tony Grove, and
I have yet to see or hear one here. The only Olive-sided Flycatcher that I
have seen or heard on the breeding grounds in the Bear River Mts. this
summer was a bird on Franklin Basin Rd. on June 29.

It's also worth noting that there are wildflowers everywhere at and around
Tony Grove as well as the trail from Tony Grove to White Pine Lake.

Good birding, Craig.
