This evening I birded the Logan Mitigation Ponds and Benson Marina.

Bird species present at the Mitigation Ponds were basically the same as
yesterday; numbers of first-winter/first-summer Bonaparte's Gulls are slowly
rising.

Logan Mitigation Ponds

Wilson's Phalarope-15
Bonaparte's Gull-38
Franklin's Gull-6+ California Gull-100
Lesser Yellowlegs-3
Least Sandpiper-3
Semipalmated Sandpiper-1+
Western Sandpiper-7
Black-necked Stilt
Cinammon Teal
Blue-winged Teal

Benson Marina (735-845 pm) highlights

Many of the birds seen at Benson Marina were flying south towards a very
large roost in the middle of Cutler Marsh. The Marbled Godwits were
presumed to be headed towards this roost.

Franklin's Gull-hundreds
California Gull-hundreds
Double-crested Cormorant-30+
Canada Goose-2 with 12 goslings
Black-crowned Night-heron-7
Osprey-2 (pair on nesting platform)
Swainson's Hawk-went to roost at 836 pm
Short-eared Owl-1 (came out of its roost @ 838 pm)
Long-billed Curlew-1
Marbeld Godwit-60 (flying south at dusk)
White-faced Ibis-500+
American White Pelican-50+
Caspian Tern
Cliff Swallows-building nests under the bridge

Good birding
