[TopOfUtah] Turkeys

This afternoon, in beautiful downtown Nibely, I counted 16 WILD TURKEYS
going down the road. They were being very well behaved -- they walked on
the side of the road instead of blocking traffic, or worse, getting
themselves hit by a car. Then they ducked under a fence and headed east
through a pasture. I enjoyed seeing them.

About 4 years ago, I used to live in Garden City (Bear Lake) and commuted
through Logan Canyon to work at USU. I always kept an eye out for wildlife
and other nature things. One day, as I was very keen to spot a moose, I
thought I saw one coming out of the forrest onto the road. It was early
morning a the light was a bit grayish, but the black of a moose against the
white snow is a pretty easy thing to spot. As I got closer, I could see
something wasn't quite right with this moose -- it seemed to want to
dissipate into several pieces. Then I noticed it wasn't a moose at all, but
a flock of about 10 wild turkeys trotting along.

After that, I spotted them numerous times. I told my husband about them,
but he never got to see them until one day, we were on our way to Logan.
As we approach the hydro electric plant, 5 or 6 of them appeared and came
across the road to cluck at us (we had pulled over to watch them). They
came right up to our car and checked us out. I was a little worried about
the traffic, but they seemed to be fairly street-wise and moved out of the
way when a car passed by.
