The scoter was hanging out around the emergent sandstone outcrops off the main parking lot area. Also of note at Sand Hollow today was a group of six Least Sandpipers and a late Barn Swallow. As usual in the winter, Sand Hollow is sporting a nice variety and outstanding numbers of waterfowl (and thousands of coots!). Stratton Pond (Grandpa's Fishing Pond: at the end of 3700 West in Hurricane) also has a great variety of waterfowl; highlighted today by around 15 or so Greater Scaup and over 70 Hooded Mergansers.
