This week a pair of Hooded Orioles have returned to our yard. They first
showed up on Sunday (3/22) and have been hanging around since then. They've
been around the last couple years. Although they nest in the palms down the
street they spend alot of their time in our yard (foraging in the shrubs and
visiting hummingbird feeders). There are currently Eurasian Collared-Doves
nesting in the orioles' usual palm tree site, and another pair with a nest
in an ornamental pine nest door. It's been interesting watching the unique
displays of these doves. Today we saw the first hummingbirds of the season,
both a male and female Costa's visiting the feeders.

Enjoy the spring,
