Last week my wife Rita and I visited various National Parks &
Monuments in southern Utah. It was not a trip focused on birds, but
we noticed what was about during our visits. Most of the parks are at
higher elevation where there was yet little or no signs of spring
migration. The following may be of mild interest:
2 Sandhill Cranes over the Escalante visitor center at Grand
Staircase-Escalante NM on 18 March
flock of 7 Black Rosy-Finch with a mix of 'Oregon' and 'Slate-
colored' Juncos in the pass above Calf Creek, Grand Staircase-
Esclanante NM, on 18 March (photos)
1 Turkey Vulture over Newcastle, west of Cedar Cedar, on 21 March was
presumably a migrant
