Hello Nevada and Utah birders,
It's time to submit your Fall bird sightings for inclusion in North American
Birds (ABA's 'Quarterly Journal of Ornithological Record'
http://www.americanbirding.org/pubs/nab/ ).
Please send details on all vagrant birds, seasonally or regional rare
species, unusual high (or low) numbers, etc. observed from August 1, 2007 to
November 30, 2007. Details (and photographs) on observations of state review
birds are very much appreciated.
Many of you correctly assume I monitor the listserves and receive much of
the information you post there, however it is often difficult to glean
details of the sightings from these posts (e.g. observers, how long a rare
bird sticks around, etc.). So, the only way to ensure your sightings are
accurately included is to submit details in your quarterly reports.
Information on submitting reports can be found at the following sites
http://www.gbbo.org/submit.htm and
http://www.americanbirding.org/pubs/nab/guidelines.html .
Many thanks to those who have already submitted their reports, and I look
forward to receiving the rest of your reports.
The spring issue will be out soon and features your observations and some
outstanding photographs by Dennis Ghiglieri, Greg Sycphers, Tim Avery,
Martin Meyers, and Bob Lawson. This fall was been exceptional with an
incredible movement of montane birds and many great finds in Utah and
Nevada, so make sure all your observations are accounted for and submit your
report!
Happy Holidays,
Rick Fridell
