Spending some time at my new soon to be yard in Veyo this weekend I was able to add a few good birds to the yard list. The biggest surprise was a bright boldly marked adult looking Clay-colored Sparrow. I watched and photographed it on and off most of the morning in a weedy patch in the yard. We were going to pull some off the weeds in that area but I think were going to leave them now. It's on the early side for a Clay-colored and I wasn't expecting it to be the first Spizella in the yard. Cassin's Vireo, Willow Flycatcher and MacGillivray's Warbler were a couple of the other new yard birds this weekend.Larry Tripp
