Here is some information about the publication of the 2004 checklist:

Except for the US Forest Service the governmental agencies contributed nothing to the publication of the 2004 checklist. the following is a list of what they said they would contribute (but didn't): (They indicated that they had to wait 'till spring (or something like that) to put it in the budgets and have it okayed and that the money would be "contributed" upon delivery of the check lists).

BLM	$750	Bureau of Land Management
BOR	$500	Bureau of Reclamation
USFWS	$500	U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
NPS	$500	National Park Service
UT State Parks	$500	Utah Division of Parks and Recreation
UDWR	$500	Utah Division of Wildlife Resources

Total of proposed contributions: $3,250 (Total contributed = 0)

Because the the Forest Service put us (Merrill and me) off for so long (between 6 months and a year as I remember), they said they would just take care of the whole publication "this time" and they did print out 5 or 6 thousand pamphlets with the checklist on them (not all that great for actual field checklists, but pretty nice to look at) which was a very nice thing to do on their part, but not nearly enough checklists to meet the need.

Merrill Webb and I took the money ($1,825)that was contributed by individuals and business and printed out 17,000 checklists (the number we could get with the money we had), and with the help of Terry Sadler, distributed them to the different contributor and government agencies.

The following businesses and individuals contributed the following amounts of money (and received checklist in a proportional manner after a portion of the checklists was contributed to the governmental agencies):

Westwings, Inc.	$500	Westsings
UOS $400	Utah Ornithological Society
Wild Bird Center, SLC	$250	Wild Bird Center, SLC
Wild Bird Center, Layton	$250	Wild Bird Center, Layton
Salt Lake Birders	$100	Salt Lake Birders
Utah County Birders	$100	Utah County Birders
Bryan T. Shirley	$100	North American Nature Tours
C. And S. Michalak	$75	C. & S. Michalak
Bob Showler	$50	Bob Showler
    Total: $1,825

It was not an easy nor quick process. (And trying to get contributions from the governmental agencies was not a pleasant thing -- they have their own printing facilities, I believe, and so we could send them text files of the checklist and encourage them to print off checklists to meet their needs, instead off or in conjunction with printing checklists through our committee -- that might be a way to go).

If would be good if we could fine a quicker and easier way to publish the checklist.

If you have any questions on the above info, please let me know.
