Greetings,

Lu Giddings has accepted a nomination for Secretary of the Records Committee.  If there are any other nominations please send them in or let me know that you're in the process of asking someone.

It might be good to get a little background information on Lu for those who don't know him.  I'll contact him and see if he can write something about his background.  If anyone has some personal knowledge about or experience with Lu you're welcome to chime in (as I'll do in the next paragraph).  

I think he would be would be a good choice. For those who don't know him well I'll chip in a little of what I know.  He live in Elk Ridge (southern Utah Valley) and teaches Chemistry at Salt Lake Community College. He's organized, thorough and scholarly (in a friendly sort of way). He knows how to write up things and publish them (something that I think is of particular importance presently).  He's good with the internet and computers and could communicate, organize and facilitate well.  I think he has a good feel for the importance of good birding records and publishing accurate and helpful information about birds (I worked with him a little with his San Juan County bird checklist which he published in the Utah Birds journal).

About Proposals:

I've posted a PDF file on the "Voting Page" for the three proposals now before the committee.  If any of the "proposers" would like to change anything in the document please let me know.

So we're open for discussion, etc., and then in  about a week or so we can  vote on the proposals.
