[reccom] New Record

Hello everyone.

I think Ron is absolutely right. We need to decide how to deal with a species being reintroduced but not yet fully established. I think it is the Peregrine Fund folks who have a whole website devoted to the progress of the (re)introduction program in the Northern Arizona area/So Utah, with periodic newletters from the field. I can pass on the exact website when I return in a week or so if anyone is interested. But right now it strikes me as silly to vote on these records when the birds are still not yet considered established by authorities higher than us in the records committee food chain, and when the birds are being constantly monitored by the Peregrine Fund (?) folks with radio equipment and the details of their lives can be gleaned much more authoritatively by asking them.

  David

Milt, The CC population is an experimental population under the ESA. How
do we deal with introduced species which are not considered established? I
am not sure the significance of this record for the committee. Do the bylaws
give any perspective?
Best wishes, Ron
