Hello Committee Members,

Since I nominated Kris Purdy for a position on th Records Committee I am
providing you with some information she sent to me.

I nominated Kris because I have so impressed with her attention to
detail and thoroughness. Her Birdnet postings are so enthusiastic. I
am also impressed with the excellent write-ups she provides for rare
bird sightings. The Worm-eating Warbler, Pacific Golden-Plover and
Red-necked Grebe are examples of recent records she has submitted to the
Records Committee. If you have a second look these up and notice the
astute observations provided.

Below is her e-mail to me regarding her experience. Terry

Terry,

Thanks for asking. I've birded all my life, but realized 4 years ago
that I needed to reinvent myself to make up for time I missed due to
family obligations, career, etc. The most important factors to improving
are long hours in the field alone and long hours in the books. I
continue to learn things about birds that I wish I knew years ago.

My activities:

2005; involves scouting and surveying two leks we adopted on the
Utah-Idaho border; four surveys each during spring lekking season.
Adopted the chapter's feeders at Beus Pond and keep them filled in the
winter
Write articles for the chapter's newsletter, 6 issues per year

DWR Volunteer: In addition to Sharp-tailed Grouse efforts above, also
record certain species for DWR's Heritage data base: sensitive species,
rarities, owls.
Serve in the Audubon volunteer corps on Bald Eagle Day at Salt Creek WMA
to help visitors see/understand Bald Eagles
Other surveys: Farmington Bay waterbird, Fremont Island Long-billed
Curlew/general bird

owls, and when Bill needs me)

Past affiliations:
San Antonio Audubon Society, 1988-1992
Hoffman Bird Club, childhood (Western Massachusetts)

Bachelor of Science (Univ.of Maine, 1982) Natural Resources

That's all I can think of. Hope it helps.

Kris .
