[Birdtalk] Deseret Ranch trip report, May 30, 2009

We had an excellent trip to Deseret Ranch yesterday, in spite of a  
little wet weather in the afternoon, and the fact that the Magnolia  
Warbler again failed to show. We found 128 species for the day  
(including an off-ranch Osprey by Coalville). The "best" birds were  
Eurasian Wigeon, White-rumped Sandpiper, and Least Flycatcher, but we  
had many other good birds, including Greater Scaup, American Bittern,  
Bald Eagle (adult), Lewis's Woodpecker, and Eastern Kingbird, along  
with most of the ranch regulars. Perhaps the biggest "miss" of the day  
was American Kestrel - I can't remember the last time spent a day  
birding here without seeing a kestrel.
