[Birdtalk] Cache and Box Elder Co., 5/31/09

This morning I birded the Cutler Marsh Boat Launch on Utah Hwy 30 and Long
Divide Rd. in both Cache and Box Elder Counties.  Highlights at Cutler Marsh
were my first-of-year WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, three EASTERN KINGBIRDS, a
BULLOCK'S ORIOLE building a nest, and a SANDHILL CRANE pair with a chick.

On Long Divide Rd, which runs from Utah Hwy 23 (just north of Newton) across
the Junction Hills to Fielding and Cutler Dam, I had a brief appearance by a
BLUE GROSBEAK (about 1.5 miles back from the county line), plus three
GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS (one in Cache and two in Box Elder), plenty of LARK
SPARROWS, and a single BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER just inside the Box Elder
county line, where Long Divide Rd turns to dirt.

While driving through Cutler Dam, I had an EASTERN KINGBIRD and another
WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE on the Canal Bank Rd.

Finally, I had another flock of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, seven birds, fly
over my apartment as I was getting ready to leave at 730 this morning.
