We used to have nighthawks nest in our yard, but I haven't seen any for the
last 2 years. One year, my son was mowing the yard and flushed one out of
the BBQ pit. It was just laying in the ashes completely invisible until
Nate came by with the lawn mower. Just now I took my dog for walk to see
if I could see or hear any. I waited for nearly 40 minutes by a place I have
seen them many times in the past, but nada.
One of the most pleasant things about summer evenings was sitting outside to
enjoy the stars and listen to the nighthawks. Where did those days go??
sigh...
