You don't need special access to get to this area. If you go during the Nature Center hours Mon. thru Thurs. 8:00 to 5:00 you can drive to the Nature Center parking lot to park. Watch where you step there are nesting Killdeer all over the parking lot. There is a gate right next to the Nature Center buildings, this gate is always locked but is accessible for walking, go around that gate and walk the trail west, it will bend to the North after about 300 yards and you will be on the southwest end of the Glover Ponds. Start watching the Playas to the west, walk another 200 or 300 hundred yards keeping an eye on those playas. This is where we saw the Snowy Plover and Solitary Sandpiper this weekend. This area is very active right now. Watch the grassy areas west of the Playas for the Sandhill Cranes with a chick.
There is also a very vocal and cooperative Virginia Rail in the Cattails at the gate next to the Nature Center as well.
If you go after hours you can park in the parking area at the gate to the Nature Center and walk in.
Good birding
Steve

Steve,
Can you see the playa west of Glover Ponds if you have no special access to
the area? For instance, from Egg Island?
Kris
