[Birdtalk] Grackles nesting at Bear River Education Center / Inside

Hi All -
Couple of things to share...
We've had great-tailed grackles hanging around the wildlife education
center the last 2-3 weeks, and this morning I watched a female building a
nest in the cattails just off the main entry boardwalk. If you REALLY want
a close look...when you walk OUT our front door, go to the 2nd light pole
on the right side (north side) and look about 15 feet out into the
cattails. The nest is in last year's growth, so stems are tan/brown, and
its a foot or more above the water. So far, looks like she's just weaving
a fairly good-sized open style nest.
