No shorebirds yet, but of course that could change tonight. I did see a
flock of 50+ Mountain Bluebirds just past the entrance, and three Sandhill Cranes
out on the flats near the entrance. A flock of Eared Grebes is at the marina
bridge. On the island, the Sage Thrashers are up and singing. They are easy
to see right now. I saw two today and three a week or so ago. A few Burrowing
Owls have shown up. Ravens have taken over the Barn Owl box at the hay barn.
A couple of Loggerhead Shrikes on the way to the ranch, and part of the
cottonwood area at the ranch is roped off because of the Great Horned Owls
nesting there I went around the area, but only saw a few birds. Robins, Juncos,
White-Crowned Sparrows, and a Hermit Thrush. I did not spend much time there.
Lots of Meadow Larks singing along the ranch road.
