[Birdtalk] Bud Phelps WMA , 3/21/09 great blue heron rookery

Went birding today at the Spring Creek canoe put-in / Bud Phelps WMAand checked on the great blue heron rookery. I counted approximately 15 herons and approximately20 nests. What was most interesting was a single great horned owl sitting on a nest right in the middleof the heron colony.Species list for the area is below:
