Because I like to conduct the experiment of birding the same place 2 days in
a row to see what I might've missed, back up to Little Dell I went this
evening. Well my first stop was Lamb's Canyon but the road was snowed out
about 1/2 way up - guess I'll have to wait a few weeks for that ethereal
haunt to let me in again. So anyway, on to Little Dell. I re-found the
LINCOLN'S SPARROW in roughly the same spot and noted all the field marks to
truly soak in this bird. Pretty cooperative as long as I stayed still. It
will be interesting to see if this is indeed where it will nest this year -
I'll check back periodically. Also added a pair of SPOTTED TOWHEE'S and a
handful of GREEN WINGED TEAL and RING NECKED DUCKS on the water which was
more open than last night - slowly melting away. The GREAT HORNED OWL that
sits and watches was doing just that and looked to be doing well.
Great Birding - Great Time of Year.
