Hello all,

I was reading my email a bit ago - for the 1st time in a few days -
and noted that many of you may be planning a trip to the Delta area to
view the Snow Geese. I have some bad news for you. A special spring
"light" goose hunt started down here on Monday 3/2. I am told the hunt
continues through Tuesday 3/10.

Gunnison Bend Reservoir is a designated waterfowl rest area, so you
will be safe there. But, the agricultural fields, other reservoirs and
wet lands, Clear Lake WMA, and so on are being actively hunted. The
hunt is being taken seriously by many, based on the number of hunters
that began arriving in Delta last Sunday.

My reason for posting this is to possibly save some of you a long
trip. There were still many geese around last weekend, but who knows
how many will be hanging around by this coming Saturday after they've
spent a few days being shot at. I would also hate to see any conflicts
develop between the hunters and birders.

More info can be obtained at
http://wildlife.utah.gov/news/09-02/light_goose.php

Feel free to email or phone me if I can answer any questions. I don't
hunt, but I know many of the folks in the area that do.
