I hate to brag but we have normal hummingbird activity here.
Our orioles are just as active. We still have full breeding plumage males
and the young ones are here too.
I am going through a half gallon of nectar every two days and we have
started our fourth pound of grape jelly. The orioles haven't been
interested in the oranges much, but the house finches love them, just like
the spring Cassin's did.
We did finally get our Calliope but now it's mostly black chinned.
It's been a great spring, even the Western Kingbirds are back in their usual
nesting spot. They went to a neighbor's yard last year and just came here
to "eat." I am glad they decided to "come home." My husband had to go and
see Bill again today to restock some of our supplies. Our usual "pig
birdies" are in the house.
Anthropomorphic much? Yes!
