[Birdtalk] hummingbirds

Down in Moab we've had a handful of Black-chinned hummers that are still
sticking around the feeders, but I don't have data from last year to compare
this to. Apparently the weather is unusual down here too. It's starting to
rain outside right now, as a matter of fact, and we had a flash flood come
through the neighborhood a few weeks ago whereas they typically don't happen
until late July.
The last couple weeks of bird surveys throughout southeastern Utah have
definitely seen hummer activity on the decline - maybe cause the flowers are
out of bloom - and where I was seeing double-digits of hummers a month ago,
now I'm seeing less than half-dozen on an average morning. I have seen a few
nests so there must be some sticking around the region.
As for Siskins in the feeders, or anywhere for that matter, I haven't seen
one in over a month!
Good birding,
Jason
