Regarding my earlier post, I added a picture in my pbase gallery showing the Western Tanagers nest that I found along the Limber Pine trail. The picture is not a great one (remember I kept my distance despite being tempted to get close - really i did), but it gives you an idea of how concealed the nest is. I was standing on the trail using 220mm of zoom to take the picture. A picture is worth a thousand words .... plus it proves I didn't invent my adventure. :) The previous pictures to this one are of the parent birds.

On another note: I was reminded by the news tonight about the road construction delays on the Saratoga Springs highway caused by nesting hawks. The news report said that "they" had hired a bird watcher to help keep an eye on the birds and that the babies have now left the nest. The report didn't say what type of hawks nor who the bird adviser was. I was just curious if anyone new more or was lucky enough to be involved in the bird watch. I have enjoyed the SLC falcon watch stories (thank you for the updates - sincerely) and I imagine the Saratoga Springs hawks must have similar stories.
Thanks
Mike
