Hi Folks -

Monday was another great day for the falcons and the watch team!

Both young birds took several flights without incident. We were absolutely stunned when Early, the older bird, stayed in the air for nine minutes this evening. He got so high, we lost sight of him momentarily. Toward the end of his flight, a pigeon flew in front of him. Early cocked his wings and went into a bit of a stoop. He missed the pigeon, but it was a fabulous attempt. Lexie is not quite as skilled, but is making good progress.

The brothers really seem to be bonding. They keep track of each other and can often be found together. Tonight they were bickering over some food and Lexie started wailing when he got edged out; so, Early started beak-feeding his brother. Something dropped to the sidewalk from where the birds were eating. It was the head of an Eared Grebe!

With the young birds together on the roof of the JSMB and the parents watching over them from atop the Church Office Building, we turned out the lights at 9:30 and went home.

It sounds like we're going to be short-handed on Tuesday morning so if anyone can assist, we would appreciate it. Bob usually arrives around 7:00 a.m.

Regards -

The Falcon Watch Team
