I took a drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon,  to Alta today (Weds 21 Jan). The good news is that I found the Ben Home, and the home to the east with a feeder. The bad news is that the Ben home seemed to have no feeder any more, and no birds. The other home had a feeder, but it was empty. But more good news: I found a STELLER'S JAY  nearby. 
Back in the valley, at the LaCaille restaurant pond, I found a MUTE SWAN. 
In the afternoon, at Lake Park, I saw about 8 COMMON MERGANSERS. 
At Lee Kay pond, I saw some CANVASBACKs. 
Of course there were other less interesting birds too.
