I hate to be the only dissenter here but...
We could have a much greater impact on local bird populations if 50K/year was donated for conservation efforts rather than rehabilitating individuals.
Rehabilitation efforts are incredibly expensive! It may make us feel good but unless we are dealing with small, threatened populations it has very little effect on conserving species.
Just my opinion.

My understanding is that the Rehab Center wants the opportunity to raise
that money over a given amount of time that hopefully extends beyond
Wednesday. "Praise and pleading" leads to more awareness which in turn can
lead to the pledges you speak of and perhaps the time to gather time. So I
encourage all who have kind words to speak about this program to continue
doing so and continue to raise the awareness to convince the board to at
least extend the possibility of keeping this program around. If you have
money to give like Jack, that is fantastic but I wouldn't hesitate to either
praise or plead if you are so inclined as your voice may be heard by those
who have the resources to help.
Thank you,
Jeff
