Birded Lake Park this morning in hopes of finding a Greater White-fronted
Goose with Carl Ingwell and a brief appearance by a sneezing Colby Neuman.
No luck. Did have some REDHEADS, 25+ COMMON MERGANSERS etc. Decker Lake
didn't seem to have anything too interesting. A brief stop at Parley's Gulch
revealed almost, literally nothing. Then to City Creek to look for Winter
Wren. No luck. But we did find a Sylvia Gray and a BELTED KINGFISHER on the
way out. An unusual citing for us was a Red Tailed Hawk balancing on a wire
with its tail feathers fanned out to hold its balance. I have never seen a
RTH on a wire like this nor has Carl. A brief drive through the cemetery
found the same flock of YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS I had yesterday and not much
else. I had a MERLIN at Sugarhouse park on my drive home. Lake Park list
below.
