[Birdtalk] Salt Lake County Birding.

I've done a bit of birding in SL Co. in the last two days.

Yesterday Brittany and I went up to Alta & saw a flock of around 50 Gray
Crowned Rosy Finch. There were a ton of skiers/snowboarders which made
birding from the road difficult. We didn't see any Black.

Today I started out at Decker Lake. I looked through Canada Geese for
anything unusual, but nothing stuck out. I also saw Gadwall, Northern
Shoveler, Pintail, Green-Winged Teal, Northern Harrier, Coots, Killdeer,
Ring-Billed and California Gull, Pigeons, Magpies and Starlings.

After Decker Lake, I drove over to Lake Park. Immediately after turning
into Lake Park, I saw a Greater White Fronted Goose feeding with the
Canada. There was a huge amount of Geese hanging around. I couldn't scan
them all because the traffic was very heavy & there is nowhere to pull off
to the side. I wanted to look for something else in the large groups of
geese, but found it impossible with the traffic. I also saw two Redhead in
the canal near the golf course, a few coots, House Finch and some Starlings.

Lee Kay Ponds was my next stop. I saw a decent sized group of Canada Geese,
2 Shovelers, 1 Canvasback, 4 Redhead, 21 Common Goldeneye, 1 Common
Merganser, 1 Northern Harrier, 2 Coot, Ring Billed Gulls, California Gulls,
Thayers & Herring Gull, Ravens, Starlings & Brewer's Blackbirds. There is a
bit more open water than there has been in the last few weeks. The open
water on the farthest west pond is right near the road, so viewing the gulls
is rather easy right now.

Hope everyone is enjoying their cake.
