Sylvia Gray and I finally got out to bird the causeway early this afternoon and were delighted to find all of our target birds that most of you have already seen and have been reporting. Brian Currie was there too and helped with id of Baird's. TY, Brian.
1 Baird's Sandpiper
2 Least Sandpipers
1 Ruff (between mile markers 2 & 3)
4 Snow Buntings (feeding near the Ruff)
3 Long-tailed Ducks
In addtion:
200+ Northern Shovelers
50 + Common Goldeneyes
3 Ruddy Ducks
2 Harriers
1 Kestral
1 Raven
~20 Killdeer
~50 Ring-billed Gulls
flock of small birds, likely pipits and Horned larks, but they refused to settle close by.
1 shrike on island near two bison on road to Ladyfinger Point, but didn't cooperate for a scope view, so no definite id.
And, the scenery was terrific with the blue sky and the snow!
thanks for all of your reports.
Deedee
