[Birdtalk] First bird of the year

Since I am travelling in South America at the moment but taking a break
to check email, I thought I'd share my first bird of the year: an Eared
Dove. Also seen on Jan 1st were Rock Pigeons, Rufous-collared Sparrows,
Great Thrushes, and an unidentified Flower-Piercer. More on the birds
of Colombia after I return.
By the way, for anyone interested I will continue using my "200 Birds"
blog to share bird sightings and other natural history observations.
For example, you can see photos of and Eared Dove, a Great Thrush, and a
Rufous-collared Sparrow there now in my latest post. The link is below.
