[Birdtalk] First Bird

I thought about posting my first sighting of the year, but the thought of telling all that HOUSE SPARROW was the first thing I heard this morning was appalling. I thought it may get better as I ventured further from home. Only to have a ROCK PIGEON course in front of my car a few blocks out of driveway. Surely it would get better, but alas, when I was driving up Parley's Way several EUROPEAN STARLING made a pass in front of me before I got on the freeway. Talk about a 1-2-3 combination to start the year off right! Ugh.

I did manage to pick up a flcok of PINE SISKIN at Sam's house to make things a little more intersting for the day!

One thought today was that anyone working on a big year could definitely start the year off well at AIC with Ruff, Varied Thrush, Snow Bunting and Lapaland Longspur with a little luck! Talk about a nice set of year birds right off the bat!

Good Birding in 09'

Hi,

I cannot believe I am the first to report at 5:18 PM.

My first bird was at home and it was an American Goldfinch.
