Bryant,

The first one is kind of hard to tell cause of the distance.  Could be a California... Or maybe Lesser Black-backed, bits its hard to say. 

As for the second bird it is the bird that has been reported as an Iceland Gull and its a beauty.  I'm actually surprised that no one has mentioned the bill on this bird... Does it not seem odd to anyone to be bicolored and so starkly in a 1st winter bird?
