Well I had no choice, after all these posts, but to look for White-winged Crossbills in Utah Co. I'd like to add them to my county list.

I drove up to the Timpanogos Trailhead parking at Aspen Grove after work today. Directions - http://www.utahbirds.org/counties/utahco/MountTimpanogosTrail.htm

I got there at about 2:00 and spent an hour and a half birding. Didn't have snowshoes so I spent most of the time in the parking area and along the road to the campground. I'm nearly positive I had a female White-winged Crossbill in the top of a tree Southwest of the parking lot but it wasn't a satisfying look. There were crossbills in the area. I got a great look at a male Red Crossbill at the top of a tree right next to the road. I also found a couple Pine Grosbeak at the top of a snag south of the Parking area.

Most of the bird activity was between 2:00 - 2:30 as the sun was shining (the sun set very early in the canyon). There were snowmobiles and a big trail groomer running which often kept me from hearing the birds. I'm going to go back up and try again next week. Hopefully at a more sunny and quite time.
