All winter - since late Oct. until just last week,- the birds have come in
huge numbers to my feeders. I've had AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, CASSIN'S
FINCHES, HOUSE FINCHES, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, SONG
SPARROWS, PINE SISKINS, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, MAGPIES, RING-NECKED PHEASANTS,
HOUSE SPARROWS, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, DOWNY WOODPECKER, NORTHERN FLICKER
and one GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH. With numerous fly-bys of CANADA GEESE,
NORTHERN HARRIERS, RED-TAILED HAWKS, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, BALD EAGLES,
MALARDS, unidentified GULLS (most likely California or Ring-billed)...

So this weekend, I get a measely count of the following
2/13/09
BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE 3
NORTHERN FLICKER 1
HOUSE FINCH 5
AMERICAN GOLDFINCH 2
DARK-EYED JUNCO 3
HOUSE SPARROW 3
RING-NECKED PHEASANT 1

what the blazes happened to all the birds!? My yard used to be a feathery,
flying circus!
