I just sent this to Robert Williams. Since he also sent a request to this
list, I thought I'd pass it along to anyone who's interested in finding
the gulls at Farmington Bay and doesn't know how to get there.

In general, the best way to get directions to places is to go to the Utah
Birds website (www.utahbirds.org), select "By County" in the menu at the
left, then click on the county you're interested in (Davis in this case).

Go down the list for the selected county and click on the place you want
to find (Farmington Bay Wildlife Management Area) to get the directions
(http://utahbirds.org/counties/davis/locations.htm#FarmingtonBayWMA).

The directions to the area are as follows: "Take Exit 319 in Centerville
going east and turn left onto the frontage road (Market Place Drive). Go
3 miles and turn left on Glover's Lane (925 South). Go 1.4 miles and turn
left onto 1325 West Street which leads to the the management area."

The road into the area is dirt, and pretty bumpy and muddy in spots these
days. Drive about a quarter mile past the offices and toilets to a T,
where you have to turn right (west). You're on a dike at this point, and
will be on one for the rest of the trip. In about a half mile, the road
bends left, and you're headed south again. Drive as far as you can (I'd
guess a couple of miles) and park at the cross roads. Dikes go in all
compass directions from there.

You should walk around the gate and continue south another couple of
hundred yards to get to where the gulls are hanging out. They'll be on
your left (east), which doesn't make for good morning viewing. We just
continued walking past the gulls and looked back at them to get better
light. I've already heard from a couple of other people, so I'm sure
you won't be alone tomorrow.

Good luck!
